Zero-to-One Driver · Fractional Chief of Staff

You know where you’re going. You just can’t see how to get there.

You’ve been moving. Working hard. And still ending up at the same barrier, another week gone. The vision is clear. Getting there is the hard part.

The struggle

You don’t need more advice.

You’ve got plenty of advice. What you don’t have is someone in the seat next to you who sees the blind spots you can’t, names what’s working and what isn’t, and helps you make the hard calls. The ones backed by evidence, not fear.

You need a driver.

What I do

I take you from zero to one.

I’m at my best when there’s no playbook, no precedent, and someone has to build the thing and get it shipped. Sometimes that’s a founding moment. Sometimes it’s a stalled project that needs a driver. Sometimes it’s a weight you’ve been handed that’s simply too heavy to carry alone. The new product. The first version. The launch that can’t slip. The unplanned, high-stakes work that lands on your plate when everything’s already full.

That’s where I do my best work. Give me a clear target and I’ll find the way through the barriers, pull in whoever’s needed, and get it done. With care, not chaos.

You point at where you’re going. Together, we move.

01

Zero to one.

I build what doesn't exist yet and drive it into being.

02

The thing that can't slip.

Hand me the ambiguous, high-stakes work. It gets done.

03

The truth, every time.

What's working, what isn't, and what the evidence actually says.

How we’d work together

Built around the work, and around your freedom to choose.

Most of what I do is sprint- and project-shaped, because building something new has a beginning and an end. Here’s the shape it usually takes.

Zero-to-One Sprint

Pick the one thing that needs to exist or get unstuck. I drive it end to end in a focused, time-boxed push. Planning, building, shipping. You get the finished thing, not a report about it.

Fractional Chief of Staff

Your embedded driver for the unplanned, high-stakes work that can’t slip. I extend your capacity, take ownership of the things sitting on your plate, and keep the priorities that matter moving.

Partner / Advisory

For founders building something I believe in, I’ll consider a mix of cash and a small stake. If we’re building from zero, I’d rather share the outcome.

Who I work with

I choose the people I build with.

I work best with founders and teams building something that matters. I weight my time toward generous, mission-driven, values-based work that builds people up: youth, education, and the missions worth giving everything to. I take fewer engagements on purpose, so the ones I take get everything.

If that’s you, reach out.

The heart of it

In the end, it’s stewardship.

You were trusted with something to bring into the world. A gift, an idea, a responsibility only you can carry. Left unfinished, it stays a someday.

My work is to help you steward it well. Finish what was started. Ship what’s been sitting too long. See it through to the people it was meant for.

What God gives is meant to be stewarded. I help you carry it through.

Who’s driving

Dana Roefer

I’ve spent my career as the person founders and executive leaders hand the hard, unplanned work to. The launch with no playbook, the first version that has to ship, the problem nobody else has time to own. I build what doesn’t exist yet and drive it to done.

Today I’m VP of Experiences at Faith Driven Entrepreneur. Alongside my husband Matt, I founded the Grand Rapids Children’s Business Fair and Journey Academy, building places where young people get to try innovation and entrepreneurship for real. I hold a BA in Communication from Michigan State.

My faith shapes how I work more than what I say about it. Do the hard thing well. Tell the truth even when it’s costly. Treat people like they matter, because they do. If you’re building something that lasts, I’d be glad to help you get it there.

Matt and I have been married since 2008 and have two boys, Simon and Lucas. We make the most of all four seasons in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
